1 in 8 families, 48% of college students, and 12 million children in America do not know where their next meal is coming from (Perry, 2019). Because a major contributor to world hunger is poverty, more resources should be made available for impoverished communities so they can have access to food. Having access to food should be a basic human right; yet, everyday the government turns families away from getting assistance and individuals in local communities are still contributing to food waste that could be helping those suffering from food insecurity. The rise of food insecurity is pushing people deeper into poverty and is decreasing our country's ability to develop and foster healthy individuals that can contribute to society. This blog is dedicated to individuals who want to see progress in food insecurity rates and want to be a part of the solution to hunger.
